Requirements
Applicants to the program must:
- have a high school diploma or GED. If applicant has an out of state GED, a PA Certificate of Preliminary Education or a PA GED certificate without a number will be required. The program can assist you with obtaining the CPE
- be at least 17 years of age
- be in good physical and mental health as evidenced by recent physical and dental exams
- provide documentation of up to date immunizations Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B
- have a recent negative Mantoux (two step is required) or chest xray
- is recommended to have proficiency in English, mathematics, and science. No specific prerequisite courses are required. A basic math review and a medical terminology course is recommended.
- have a satisfactory rating on the Pre-entrance Aptitude Exam
- reflect strong moral character
- must be fluent in the English language – written, spoken, and comprehension
- have a PA Act 34 criminal background check without findings (see application packet for further details). If applicant has lived in PA less than 2 years a background check will be required from the state or country of prior residence(s).
- provide an FBI clearance without findings (see admission packet)
- submit a negative rapid drug screen
- be willing to abide by all school policies
- have a recent American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer certificate
Process for admission
- Applications are accepted throughout the year – there is no deadline.
- Submit application and $40 application fee (check or money order, no cash please)
- Upon receipt of your application you will be notified of a date to take the Preentrance Aptitude Exam. Information about the test will will be sent with your test date letter.
- An interview with Nurse Administrator will be completed immediately after completing the test. Business attire is recommended.
- Submit a PA Act 34 criminal background check (and other background check if required) after taking admission test. You should bring a credit card or check or money order for $10 on exam day to cover costs of PA Background check.
- Have official high school transcript sent to program (must be mailed directly from the high school) or provide GED scores
When test score results and all documents are received, the prospective student’s file is presented to the Admissions committee for approval. The student will be notified of acceptance by mail. The student will submit a letter of intent to enroll and a $300 Acceptance/Supplies/Technology Fee to secure a position in the class offered. This fee is not refundable.
ATTENTION: PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS — Starting with the Aug 2012-13 Class students with lower math scores on the admissions test will be required to take a math review course one month prior to starting classes.
